The Cemetery

Ursula shook her head gently. "Weirdly calm. Only one scream ever since I got here...."

Kareena raised an eyebrow, she hadnt really though about how often people die before.. She red curls bounced lightly as she tilted her head, thinking about it. Her face seemed outlined in the silvery moonlight and her delicate features seemed to glow. She closed her eyes as though trying to remember something and framed against the night sky, looked pretty as a picture.

Úrsula looked at her and smiled. "You are so pretty Kareena. And so human..." She paused, biting on her lower lip, her chains making small noises. "Do you have someone you....care about?" She asked softly, blushing slightly. She longed for someone to love herself, so she loved other people's stories.

Kareena's eyes were wide with wonder, pretty? She'd never actually thought of herself as pretty. "Well no..", she answer Ursula. She was telling the truth, guys were generally intimidated by her when they found out the truth about her. To give Ursula a complete answer, she added, "There were a couple of guys, here and there.. but really no one", Kareena allowed herself a small smile as she embarrassedly recalled the various make out sessions, behind clubs, at parties, concerts during what Kareena liked to consider her "wild youth". Gosh the 70's were particularly bad, she thought, remembering when she'd donned bellbottoms and attended beatles concerts. She, her red curls and wacky dressing had fit right in. She chuckled lightly to herself, a slight flush in her cheeks.

Ursula smiled sympathetically. "That's sad. I wish I had someone." She looked at the moon with a sad, distant gaze, as if it remembered her of something she didn't want to remember. She remained silent.

"Something wrong?", Kareena asked snapping to. There was a strange disquet.

Úrsula shook her head. "Nothing. Memories of a Thousand years of living." She smiled sadly and looked around at the dark cemetery under the bright moonlight. "It's late. Are you not afraid?"

Kareena smiled, "Afraid of what? Theres nothing to fear from darkness or the night. You see more when no one sees you."

"Why, afraid of people like me." The banshee said, licking her lips. "Zombies, ghosts, evil spirits. They exist, you know." Úrsula said, combing her blue hair with bony fingers.

Kareena laughed, she couldnt help it. Here they were, in a kingdom of fantasy creatures and Ursula was worried about Zombies? "We're all creatures of the night Ursula, why do you think we cant live anywhere normally?"

"But you're human, I am dead." She stated simply. "The humans, with enough time, can live anywhere in Peace. I am dead. I can't have rest. Everyone is afraid of me."

"You can live here", Kareena said gesturing around here to indicate the kingdom. We're all freaks here."

Úrsula shook her head sadly. "I can only live here in this cemetery." She sighed, hugging her knees tighter.

"Ofcourse not!", Kareena said surpirsed, "Why whats to stop you from livigg anywhere?"

"I bring death!" Úrsula said, raising her bony fingers. "People mistake me for a reaper and because I scream death, announcing it, they avoid me. Who is to befriend someone close to death?!" She bit her lower lip and hid her face on her knees, feeling like crying.

Kareena's eyes widened, surprised by the onslught of emotions. "Im your friend Ursula", she said gently, meanimg it. It was true, what didvshe havevto fear from death? nothing. death had to be respected not feared.

Úrsula shivered a bit, looking at her with big pink eyes, threatening to get filled with tears. "....T-thank you." The banshee mumbled, blinking tears away. "It's much appreciated, yet that changes nothing about who I am."

Kareena shrugged, trying to be nonchalant, "You dont have to change who you are, I cant change who I am".

"The only way to change who I am is by having my curse lifted. We are in the very same boat." Úrsula mumbled, floating closer to Kareena and leaning onto her. She sighed.

Kareena was slightly surprised, but extracted her hand put it around Ursula's skinny ahoulders. "How would that happen?" she asked softly, curious but not wanting to scare Ursula.

"Oh, it....wouldn't." Úrsula mumbled, leaning into the hand in her shoulder. "I could tell you how I got cursed and became a banshee, if you'd like.'

Kareena nodded, she dint mean to be intrusive but if it would helo Ursula she was up for i she rsn a hand soothingly over Ursula's hair and said, "Only if you want to..", her voice trailing away.

Úrsula nodded. "Well, around a Thousand and almost a hundred years ago, I was the daughter of a Merchant somewhere in Hungary. I cannot remember how I looked before but I remember a sound....laughter. My laughter." She hugged her knees tighter. "And there was a woman who everyone said was a witch. Me or someone upset her and she laid the curse of the banshee on me. However, I don't know how."

"Oh..and ever since then? Where have you been?", Kareena asked That was horrible she thought, hugging Ursula closer to her.

"Traveling around. There was nothing left for me where I lived." Úrsula said sadly, enjoying the hug. She even cuddled to Kareena, unconciously.
